Kiwanis Club of Rancho Cucamonga

Books for Soldiers and their kids

Picture
We recently launched a new project for the club where active duty
soldiers are sent a book to read on camera for their child back home. The recording and book are returned home to the child where they can then follow along in the book while their parent reads them the book.
We need books. if you have any gently used books we could sure use them. Contact us here or on FB and we'll make arrangements to pick them up. Thanks!

Members of the Kiwanis Family of Service The Kiwanis family comprises more than 15,000 clubs of adult and youth members in more than 90 countries and geographic areas.

Kiwanis Clubs - Kiwanis International

Kiwanis, through guidance and example, works to develop future generations of leaders. Every day, Kiwanians are revitalizing neighborhoods, organizing youth-sports programs, tutoring, building playgrounds, and performing countless other projects to help children and communities.

Aktion Club

Picture
Aktion Club members in more than 200 clubs in seven nations allow adults living with disabilities to develop initiative and leadership skills through hands-on service. These adults return to the community the benefits, help, and caring they have received.

Key Club - for High School students

Picture
245,000 high school leaders from 24 countries unite every day to provide service in their homes, schools, and communities, and complete more than 12 million hours of service. Key Clubbers work to help eliminate HIV/AIDS in Africa, stop premature birth, and battle for the rights of children in their communities.

Service Projects

The Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House has a mission and that mission is to provide a “home away from home” for families of critically ill and injured children receiving medical treatment at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital and nearby medical facilities. About once every six weeks we stop by and do what we can to help them fulfill their mission.  We serve a hot meal to the residents and their families, hopefully giving them a night away from that responsibility.

We participate in the Special Olympics Bowl-a-thon each year at the Bowlium in Montclair.

Achieving a good education is something we also put an emphasis on. The Bring Up Grades program (or BUG Awards) awards elementary school students’ achievements. The Club works with schools and teachers to encourage students to work on strategies to bring their grades up.  We hand out awards to those students who achieve higher grades and offer support to others who may need more assistance

Once a year during the holiday season we partner with Shoes That Fit to provide a new pair of shoes for children in need.  The New Balance store in Ontario also lends a hand by making us a special deal.  We deliver the shoes to local elementary schools and the staff takes care of discreetly making sure the shoes get to their deserving student.

Scholarships

The Kiwanis Club of Rancho Cucamonga offers various scholarship opportunities for outstanding students from local high schools. Pictured here are the 2011 recipients. Good luck!
